The history and culture of the Visegrád Group have been closely intertwined during the centuries. There are many similarities between our customs, mentality, but each country is very proud of their values at the same time. The 4x4 Festival is intent on presenting this variety by setting young people in the leading role. Our purpose is to let the talented youth of educational institutions present their culture, their musical and artistic values in their homelands and in other countries as well. It is not enough to only promote our and culture common prospects for the future, but we have to teach the next generations too. Our long-term goal is to provide musicians, teachers and students of the participating educational and cultural institutions with an opportunity to perform in the countries of each other. Not only do we expect of this Festival to help build our common culture but also to form cooperation and connections. Frédéric Chopin, Antonín Dvorák, Franz Liszt....and the list could be continued. Composers, whose common feature in work is that they spoke the same language, the international language of music, merely in different dialects. We believe that , by recognising the little differences, we can continue to foster and build our unity and our common culture.
